News from the Sidewalk

CHALK4PEACE is the global chalk art project about peace. We celebrate our eleventh year as a worldwide event encouraging peace. CHALK4PEACE, Inc.  is a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization.

We've had more than 1000 events in 50 countries and have covered more than 12 miles of pavement with messages and visions of peace in sidewalk chalk...

We believe in  "Drawing the World Together..."

CHALK4PEACE participated in the Peace Day Student Observance at the United Nations in New York City in 2016 to honor the International Day of Peace. Hundreds of thousands of young artists of all ages have joined us since 2005.

Our goal: ONE MILLION artists Chalking 4 Peace at the same time...

Because we need Peace...Now more than ever...

Quezon City, Philippines has been one of the most enthusiastic locations of CHALK4PEACE, beginning with the Miriam College Grade School's first National Peace Day event in 2010.  Organized by Patti Bautista, CHALK4PEACE/WALK 4 PEACE was an exercise covering all the sidewalks of the campus. News of the project spread quickly in the local educational community. Photos: Ed Talaro

The Gooden School Sierra Madre, CA

The Gooden School celebrates its 9th year of CHALK4PEACE, first joining the project in 2007.  Headmistress Patty Patano and Admissions Director Marianne Van Vorst Ryan have encouraged not just the school but also parents of the students to be a part of their Teach Peace program leading up to the International Day of Peace, when every sidewalk on the campus gets embellished with CHALK4PEACE. John Aaron, Founder and CEO of CHALK4PEACE, is a regular C4P attendee and speaker at Gooden; it is an event he never misses. Gooden, like several other schools dedicated to CHALK4PEACE, has created a series of lesson plans that are interdisciplinary and impart to the entire student body the importance and philosophy of practicing and building Peace. The Gooden School has always one of the leading schools teaching Peace.  This year's CHALK4PEACE is scheduled for the morning of September 24.

Some of Gooden's photos through time: most were taken by Meaghan Snyder; also Marianne Van Voorst Ryan.
