News from the Sidewalk

CHALK4PEACE is the global chalk art project about peace. We celebrate our eleventh year as a worldwide event encouraging peace. CHALK4PEACE, Inc.  is a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization.

We've had more than 1000 events in 50 countries and have covered more than 12 miles of pavement with messages and visions of peace in sidewalk chalk...

We believe in  "Drawing the World Together..."

CHALK4PEACE participated in the Peace Day Student Observance at the United Nations in New York City in 2016 to honor the International Day of Peace. Hundreds of thousands of young artists of all ages have joined us since 2005.

Our goal: ONE MILLION artists Chalking 4 Peace at the same time...

Because we need Peace...Now more than ever...

These artists from Woodlawn E.S., Alexandria, VA were lucky enough to work with Marielle Mariano, Arts Specialist from Arlington, VA who now coordinates the East Coast CHALK4PEACE Project and who has organized and attended more than 60 C4P events in the past 10 years! A veritable Force of Nature, Marielle has developed a comprehensive TEACH PEACE lesson plan that combines disciplines, courses and media to help her students be highly informed when it comes to the concepts and history of Peace and Peacebuilding.

Drawing The World Together...

image1.jpg

From giant symbols of peace- signs, doves, words and planets; to quotes and images that tell the world what Peace means to them, CHALK4PEACE has found its way to 40 countries, 500 events and 10 years of expressions resulting in more than 70 miles of painted sidewalk! Join us again this fall as we draw the world together...! Give a piece of chalk a chance...! This article in the Chronicle of Philanthropy the weekend we launched CHALK4PEACE worldwide in 2006 was an inspiration in its recognition of the growing youth movements PeaceJam, Peace One Day and CHALK4PEACE. We knew we had a long ways to go; and miles of pavement to cover...
